The golden oyster mushroom is yet another one of our oyster mushroom culture selections. Like the pink oyster, the golden oyster mushroom has the visual appeal of brightly colored caps, except that they are yellow, not pink.

Golden oyster mushrooms are not native to North America. They originate on the other side of the globe in eastern Russia, China and Japan. Cultures of the golden oyster mushroom are somewhat rarer to find than that of other oyster mushrooms, even though they have traits that should make them very desirable to grow. This edible shelf fungus is much like the common pearl oyster mushroom in terms of its medicinal and culinary benefits.

This species is an exceptional producer, with a cycle time that is just a bit shorter than the pearl oyster mushroom. The golden oyster mushroom contains an impressive 30% protein. These mushrooms often form in dense clusters as you can see in our photos. The golden oyster mushroom is a prime choice for high mushroom yield and general ease of cultivation.

Golden oyster mushrooms are known for their biological efficiency. Golden oysters are capable of converting approximately 50-70 percent of a substrate into mushroom mass. When you consider factors like the golden oyster mushroom’s protein content, its efficiency in converting substrate to mass and its ease of cultivation, growing golden oysters is an exceptionally productive source of nutrition.
