    Green fertilizer, fodder and honey crop. As a green manure, it is valued for its early ripening (one of the best among legumes), which makes it possible to use it in intercrops (before or after winter crops and early spring crops, grains and vegetables).


    Peas are used both for food purposes and for fertilizer.

    Green manure. After decomposition in the soil, the biomass becomes a fertilizer easily digestible by plants, and the soil is replenished with organic matter and humus. Thanks to nodule bacteria that develop on the roots, it extracts nitrogen from the air and accumulates it, although less than sweet clover, alfalfa and lupine, but much more than any cruciferous and cereal green manures.

    Drains, improves soil structure, increases its air and moisture capacity.

    Improves soil health. Improves the living conditions of worms and soil microorganisms, and serves as food for them during decomposition. This, in turn, leads to a reduction in plant disease and increased productivity.

    When densely sown in cultivated soils, it suppresses the development of weeds.

    The plant is an annual. It has a well-developed tap root, penetrating to a depth of about 1 m.
