Organic Tagetes «Tangerine»
Low growing "Tangerine" French marigold (Tagetes patula nana) is an easy-to-grow annual plant that produces double blooms that take on vivid, orange colour.
These plants grow up to 20 cm tall and develop thick, semicircular flat tufts sprinkled with flowers. These appear from July until first frosts. "Tangerine" French marigold may be grown on borders, flower beds, edgings as well as boxes and pots on balconies. Thanks to high essential oil content this plant excretes a characteristic aroma that repels aphids and nematodes. Therefore we recommend to plant it among other plants, particularly vegetables.
The "Tangerine" French marigold is usually grown from seedlings produced under covers. For that purpose sow seeds to boxes or seeding trays at the beginning of April. Well developed seedlings should be transplanted to the permanent site in 15 x 30 cm spacings in the second half of May. You may also sow seeds to the permanent site in the second half of May. These plants prefer sunny sites, where they bloom abundantly, and light, permeable, yet moderately moist soil. Plants need regular watering in drought periods.
