It consists of myriads of single flowers that look like tiny needles. "Esmeralda" is definitely a very ornamental variety that blooms for a very long time. This is a great proposal for sunny borders and cut flower. Asters stay fresh and retain great looks in vases for a long time.
Asters may be grown through direct sow to the ground after the risk of spring frosts has passed, or from seedlings prepared earlier indoors. Sow aster seeds in early spring. If you provide them with temperature in range of 16 - 20°C you may expect the emergence within 7-14 days. After 7 - 8 weeks seedlings may be transplanted to the permanent site. Choose a place in at the sunny side of the garden for aster cultivation. They will bloom abundantly in well-drained soil rich in nutrients.
