How to Plant
When growing aubergines, remember that planting aubergines from seeds should be planted indoors or in a greenhouse. This will protect the little seedlings from any frosts. When planting aubergines, if you plant them too early, you risk damaging the plant. The soil needs to be warm before you plant them outdoors. Planting too early in cold soil will kill the roots of the plant. Aubergines are more sensitive to cold than tomatoes.
When you're thinking about where to plant aubergines, think about your garden space, as aubergines need a lot of room. When planting aubergines, plant them about 18 inches apart and the rows should be about 30 inches apart, if not more. This requires a fairly large area. Fertilise aubergines after transplanting the seedlings. And also, give the plants a nitrogen fertiliser mid-season when growing aubergines.
Planting eggplant is best when you can expect most growth to happen during the summer. Eggplants thrive during the summertime heat, making the biggest fruits during this part of the growing season. Also, be sure during the summer heat that you water frequently and make sure the soil stays somewhat moist. Don’t let the plants dry out or you will not get the results you would like.
