  • Tomato "Church"

Mid-season, indeterminate, tall tomato variety with giant fruits. In the middle lane, it is recommended to grow it in a greenhouse.

According to the American tomato collector Chuck Whit, this variety is more than 100 years old and got this name because it was previously grown by monks in the church. The plant is powerful, up to 1.8 meters high (in a greenhouse), a leaf of the usual type. A reliable garter to the support and pinning is required.

The best results were obtained when forming a 2-stem plant. If the desired result is giant fruits, then form a bush into 1 stem, removing all lateral shoots (stepsons) and normalize the number of ovaries.

Fruits are flat-round, at the stage of maturity, saturated pink color, weighing 400-700 grams (up to 1.5 kg). Some gardeners managed to get fruits weighing 1.5-2.5 kg. The pulp of the fruit is fleshy, very tasty. Sowing seeds for seedlings is carried out 60-65 days before the intended planting in the ground. When planting seedlings to a permanent place of 1 sq. m place no more than 3 plants.

    Agrotechnics
Heat-loving culture. Grown by seedlings or sowing in open ground. The seedlings are sown from 1 to 10 March in 10x10 cm nutrient pots. Seedlings grow in cups for 55-60 days before planting in the garden. They are planted in a permanent place in the second decade of May according to a 50x50 cm scheme.

To obtain a high and early harvest, tomatoes planted in the garden in early May are temporarily covered with a transparent film until the onset of warm weather. The best predecessors are legumes, pumpkin seeds, root crops, and green crops. Cannot be planted after potatoes, peppers, eggplants, physalis.

A sunny place, protected from cold winds, is allocated for planting; loamy soils with the addition of organic fertilizers are preferred.
