  • «Troubadour» - Organic Indian Datura Seeds (Datura innoxia)

Datura Indian is a perennial (annual in cultivation) herbaceous plant 70-80 cm high. The stem is erect, at the base reaches up to 3-4 cm in diameter, branched, densely covered with hairs, has a green or dark purple color.

Leaves are alternate, short-petiolate, ovate or oblong-ovate, pointed to the top, entire or slightly notched. The color is gray-green from the presence of hairs. All parts of the plant, when damaged, give off a smelly odor similar to rotten peanut butter, while the smell of flowers is considered by many people to be quite pleasant when they bloom at night.

The flowers are solitary, white, located at the base of the forks of the stems. Until the time of flowering, the flowers are erect, after which they bend over. The calyx is swollen and ends in five, rarely two or three teeth in the upper part. The fruit is a polyspermous gray-green or brown box drooping downwards, four-celled at the base, and two-celled above, densely covered with thin needle-shaped thorns. When ripe, the capsule cracks incorrectly or remains closed.

The seeds are buffy-yellow or brownish-brown. The seeds have the ability to hibernate and can persist in the soil for years. Blooms in July-October. Fruiting in August. For medical purposes, leaves are used, which are harvested in July-August.

Datura is a poisonous plant! But if used in the right doses, it has a healing effect.
