Deciduous shrub 1.5-3 m in height, with a spreading, dense, rounded crown.

    Biological description:
Branches are long, sometimes up to 5 m, tough, with pale brown or gray, flaky bark, smooth, occasionally thorny. Spines 0.6 cm long, sparse, located in pairs below the leaves, straight or slightly curved. The leaves are richly dense green, slightly pubescent or glabrous on both sides.

Leaflets, 9-15 (19) pieces, 1-2.5 cm long, gradually increasing in size towards the apex, elliptical or lanceolate, pointed or obtuse, finely and sharply toothed almost along the entire margin. The petioles are absent-mindedly spiny. Stipules are narrow, pointed, glandular. The flowers are usually solitary, located at the ends of short twigs, 5-7 cm in diameter, simple or more often double, weakly fragrant. Petals are pale pink to carmine.

The sepals are much shorter than the petals, broadly ovate, pointed, leaf-shaped, pinnate, spinous outside, erect, non-falling after the petals have fallen off. Pedicels are thorny. Fruits in non-double forms are 3-4 cm in diameter, flat spherical, green, yellow-green when ripe, densely bristly, falling in August. Blooms in June. Frost resistant down to -29 ° C. In culture since 1823. In culture, it is usually a terry form.
