It is a hybrid of two varieties (Latin names: Vitis Labrusca and Vitis Vinifera), which turned out in a completely natural way. This fruit is a technical tableware, which means that it is better to make drinks from berries than to use them fresh. Accordingly, Isabella is a wine grape variety.

The berries are medium in size, have a black peel, which is covered with a specific wax coating on top. Rough skin retains delicate flesh. The shape of the berries can be round or oval.

Isabella grapes blooms in small inflorescences that are prone to the formation of both pistils and stamens. The ripening period of this variety is in October. Therefore, gardeners harvest from mid-October to early November. In warm regions, this grape begins to be harvested in late September. Since Isabella is considered a late-ripening variety, it is often used for landscaping.

To taste, the ripe Isabella grapes resemble the taste of sweet strawberries. But the smell of such grapes is closer to the smell of wet fox hair. Sometimes winemakers call this variety "fox grapes." Therefore, isabella grapes are not universally welcomed as raw materials for making wine, since the smell does not disappear. Others, on the contrary, consider this wine to be very attractive and unusual.

Distinctive features of this grape variety are as follows:
    • “Isabella” grapes, unlike other varieties, contain more anthocyanins and pectins, which contribute to increased immunity and have a beneficial effect on overall health. Also, this variety helps to increase the level of hemoglobin in the blood as soon as possible.
    • This grape is more unpretentious to weather conditions, easily interbreeds with other varieties. It is also characterized by high productivity and the ability to withstand many diseases and pests.
    • In the manufacture of wine during the fermentation of isabella grapes, a large amount of methyl alcohol is formed, which is harmful to the body.

Isabella berries contain more calories than other grapes.

Planting: Seeds stratify for 3-5 months. at low positive temperatures (2-3 ° C). The readiness for germination of grapes from seeds will be indicated by the formation of cracks in the bones. When abundant cracks appear on the required number of seeds, they must be taken out of the refrigerator, laid out on wet gauze and covered with wet gauze on top. In this state, the seeds should be about a week. Moreover, a very important point is the observance of the temperature regime (not lower than 15 ° C) and the constant maintenance of humidity. During this time, the seeds should already sprout a little, after which they can be deepened into the ground.

The soil for grape seedlings is prepared loose, consisting of one part of sand and two parts of humus. It is important that the land is not overdried. If the soil is dry, spray it well from the spray bottle, gradually stirring.

Now prepare containers for grape seed (you can use either plastic cups or low drawers). Put drainage on the bottom, and then fill the container with earth. And to a depth of 1.5 cm, plant sprouted seedlings of grapes.

Note that after the root system has developed sufficiently, the plant will need to be transplanted into a large pot. The need for transplantation will be indicated by the roots of the plants sticking out through the drainage. And in plastic cups they will even be clearly visible through the transparent walls.

Grapes grow quickly, but as a rule, they will not give you fruits in the first year. Typically, grapes begin fruiting 2-3 years after planting. That is why the first two years of grapes do not require any special additives to the soil. He needs enough sand with humus and periodic addition of compost to the soil.
