Organic Aster «Yellow Peony»
Yellow peony aster (Callistephus chinensis) will bring truly sunny glow into your garden. This undemanding, persistently blooming annual plant has an erect habit and their straight, branched stems are covered with vividly green, small, oval-spiky leaves.
In July large flower buds open on the tops of the stalks, displaying the richness of thickly packed, bright yellow petals. A green frill of tiny leaves surrounds each of the flower balls. Full height of the plant depends on the nutrients content of the soil and reaches between 50 and 80 cm.
Aster seeds are sown in early spring. In order for the plants to grow abundantly and quickly, we recommend to start the cultivation with the production of seedlings on a hotbed, in an indoor greenhouse or in a box on your windowsill. You might also try the direct sow into the field later in the spring.
The needs of the resistant aster are met by different kinds of garden soil, provided it is permeable and rich in humus. We strongly recommend fertilizing the ground with compost. This plant looks best in large single or multi-variety groupings. Its sunny yellow flowers harmonise with blue asters and larkspurs, as well as the multicoloured marigolds, lobelias, treasure sunflowers and zinnias. They stop to bloom only in autumn, in October.

This is a standard mainstay of fall and winter harvest daikon radishes from Japan. The enormous roots can grow to 50-75 cm long and 6-8 cm (2.5-3.25″) in diameter. They keep very well as the soil cools down into early winter.
