The granadilla fruit is ovoid in shape and size - 6-7 cm in diameter. The fruit is a gelatinous pulp with small black seeds located throughout the thickness of the fruit, enclosed in a hard peel. The color of the peel can vary from yellow to red. But the fruit, ready to eat, should be yellow-orange in color. Granadilla tastes vaguely like melon.
The fruit is used fresh and as juice. The fruit is cut and the pulp is removed with a spoon. It can be eaten as a stand-alone product, or it can be added to fresh fruit salads, desserts, yoghurts, and cocktails to give dishes and drinks a special “tropical” taste.
Growing conditions. Sowing seeds - all year round. Pre-soak for a day at a temperature of 21-27°C. Soil: 30% fine sand, 50% loam, 20% peat. Planting depth 2-5 mm, Optimum germination temperature +19-24°C. Some seeds can take up to 12 months to germinate! Be patient!
