  • Eclipta outstretched Organic Seeds

    An annual or biennial herb with a highly branched, upright, upright or erect reddish, short and hard pubescent stem up to 1 m in height, rooting in the lower nodes.

    Leaves are opposite, dark green, papery, ovoid, oblong-lanceolate or lanceolate, with a finely serrated edge to a solid, obtuse or pointed at the apex, tapered at the base, sometimes with a short petiole, 2-10 cm long and up to 3 cm wide ... On both sides of the leaf blade, there are numerous dense, coarse hairs with a thickened base. The veins are distinctly expressed.

    Baskets up to 1 cm in diameter, often grouped in two at the ends of the shoots and in the leaf axils, peduncle 0.5-7 cm long, thickened directly under the basket, coarsely hairy. The wrapper is two-row, leaflets are 5-6 in number, ovoid, the outer ones are 4-6 mm long, the inner ones are usually shorter. Marginal flowers are pseudo-ligate, pistillate, white, tongue 2-3 mm long. The median flowers are numerous, tubular, whitish, bisexual, 1.5-2 mm long. There are five stamens, with fused anthers forming a ring around the pistil.

    Achenes 1.5-2.5 mm long, obovate or wedge-shaped, laterally flattened and therefore almost tetrahedral, light brown to black, warty, truncated at the apex, with short (up to 0.2 mm) whitish hairs that break off easily, deprived of a crest.

    A cosmopolitan plant found in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia. The original range has not been established, according to various scientists, it comes either from tropical Asia or from America.

    It is found on the banks of rivers and lakes, often as a weed on irrigated plantations, in particular, in rice-growers.

    For medicinal purposes, the dried aerial part of the plant (grass) is used.

    Biological activity. The herb improves the nutrition of the liver and kidneys, has hemostatic properties. Eclipta preparations are used as a fortifying, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic agent. Studies have shown its high activity against pathogens: bacteria, yeast, fungi, nematodes. The herb increases the activity of the ovaries, acts on smooth muscles.

    Indications for use. It is recommended to use it for loosening of teeth and early gray hair, as well as for circulatory disorders. The decoction is prescribed for hematuria, tinnitus, pain and weakness in the knees and lower back. Eclipta increases blood clotting, which is why it is often used for nasal, uterine, pulmonary and other bleeding, as well as for excessively heavy menstruation. It can be used for cystitis, hepatitis, lumbago, gastroenteritis. It works well as an external remedy for eye inflammation, is a component of many ointments used for some skin diseases.
