Agrotechnics
Watermelon is a light and heat-loving culture. In the middle lane, seeds must be soaked and germinated in the second half of April or May. When preparing seeds before sowing, soaking in a solution of wood ash gives good results. A 0.05% sodium humate solution can be used successfully. You can also improve the results when growing seeds in peat pots.
They are sown to a depth of 3-4 cm. Sprouted 25-30-day-old seedlings are planted in late May, early June, when the danger of late spring frosts has passed. Seedlings are not pinched. Seedlings are planted in the soil at a distance between rows of about 200 - 170 cm, the distance in a row is 50 - 70 cm.
If sowing is done directly into the ground, then the soil should warm up to 12-15 degrees. The place for planting is first marked and then holes are made with a hoe to a depth of 5-6 cm, 2-3 seeds are placed on the bottom, sprinkled with soil and be sure to press down for better contact of the seeds with the soil. Seedlings appear 8-9 days after sowing.
