The history of the variety began 300 years ago in Naples, on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius. Someone noticed that the variety does not spoil if you put it in a dry and cool place. Since that time, on the outskirts of Vesuvius, growing Pienolo cherry tomatoes has become a profitable business for local peasants. This variety stays fresh for up to 7 months, simply suspended in dry and cool Italian barns. Currently, only 18 certified farmers have the right to grow this national treasure of Italy, who especially monitor the quality of the tomatoes grown.
