A plant 10–30 cm tall, with small flowers ranging in color from light blue to violet. It is heat-, light-, and moisture-loving, yet also cold-tolerant. It blooms from July until the first frosts.
For earlier flowering, seeds are sown in February–March in boxes covered with glass. Seedlings are pricked out in clusters of 5–6 plants together. Young plants can withstand light frosts down to −1 to −2°C.
Seeds are sown in February–April in greenhouses or cold frames. At a temperature of 14–18°C, seedlings emerge in 9–14 days. The seedlings develop very slowly. In May, they are transplanted into open ground.
It grows well in open, sunny locations with nutrient-rich soil. It is mainly used for group plantings, rock gardens, flower beds, carpet bedding, and as a container plant.
