This is a herbaceous, perennial plant, up to 20 cm high. The leaves are collected in a basal rosette. Flowers are solitary, up to 5 cm in diameter. Blooms in May - June for 60-70 days. Sowing in early spring or before winter in a permanent place. Does not tolerate transplantation well.
If necessary, it is better to replant in the phase of the first pair of leaves. Prefers open sunny areas, but tolerates slight shading and is frost-resistant. Grows in any garden soil. It is responsive to the application of organic matter and mineral fertilizers, which stimulates active flowering and an increase in flower size. Poppies cannot tolerate stagnation of water at all - the roots rot. Looks great in mixborders, rockeries, and single groups.
Bouquets of poppies will decorate any room. It is better to cut poppies in the morning at the bursting bud stage. The cut site should be held over the fire for several seconds so that the juice released at the cut does not clog the vessels of the stem.
