The tall growing "Inga" needle-petal aster (Callistephus chinensis) is a variety producing blooms that delight with their airy look and beautiful pink-red colour.
Asters belong to the most wonderful summer flowers that stand out with abundant and long blooming. The magnificent inflorescences sit atop long stems that grow 40 - 60 cm tall. The variety offered here in our store blooms medium early. Its flowers develop gradually from summer until the first autumn frosts. This plant is simply indispensable on summer borders. There, planted in groupings, it will show its beauty to the fullest. Cut asters retain their freshness and nice looks, delighting our eyes for a long time.
Aster seeds may be sown early in spring to boxes placed on a warm and sunny windowsill. These plants are frost sensitive and therefore can only be transplanted outside in the second half of May. This is also the right time to sow asters directly to the ground. The tall needle-petal aster "Inga" is very easy in cultivation. It loves full sun, although you may also plant it in partial shade. It prefers rich, thoroughly moist and well-drained soils.
