French marigold (Tagetes patula nana), offered here as a low growing "Kora" variety, is a very valuable plant that blooms long and regularly adorning our gardens and balconies.
It develops compact, round tufts that reach 25 to 35 cm in height. The vividly green, deeply dentate leaves form a great background for the double, bright orange flowers. The blooms develop gradually from spring until late autumn. This low growing French marigold variety works best on lower borders and edgings. The sea of orange flowers looks particularly well on lawn edges. "Kora" French marigold may also be used in balcony and terrace decorations.
You will grow strong plants that should bloom end of spring already by sowing French marigold seeds indoors in early spring. This species may also be sown directly in the garden in the middle of spring. These seedlings grow fast and would bloom at the beginning of summer. French marigold thrives in full sun, as it is resistant to heat waves and drought periods that are so common in summer. It may be planted successfully in every kind of garden soil. Plants grown in containers require regular watering.
