Salvia sclarea var. turkestanica, better known as Clary Sage has been grown in almost every botanical sanctuary in human history. Its uses are considerable: a flavoring for wines, an oil for perfumes, potpourri and incense.

The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and is pollinated by Insects. It is noted for attracting wildlife. The bark is pale grey-brown and irregularly ridged, with characteristic large burrs and leaf shoots at the base of the tree.

Perennial climbing herbaceous vine from the pumpkin family, cultivated for the sake of small edible fruits that taste like cucumbers, does not form tubers, therefore it easily takes root by shoots.
