Is a high-yielding fruit deciduous tree-like shrub about 1.5-2m high and up to 2m in diameter. In June, it is covered with honey-bearing pale pink flowers that hang from the shoots like earrings. Later, fruiting begins with small, dogwood-like, oval juicy red berries, which have medicinal properties and are not inferior to sea buckthorn in their beneficial properties. The composition of Gumi berries includes various vitamins, trace elements and amino acids that help with gastrointestinal diseases, as well as improve blood circulation. They have tonic and anti-inflammatory properties. Also, the bushes of Loja multiflora help to improve the soil and improve its fertility, due to bacteria that capture and process nitrogen, living on the roots of the plant. The bark and leaves have phytoncidal properties.

In open ground, the growth rate is quite high. The root system is fibrous, superficial, powerful and branched, lies to a depth of 40 cm and extends beyond the bush. The roots have tubers that contain nitrogen-fixing bacteria. Shoots: First, one large shoot appears, then the bush begins to branch and, when the crop appears, branches to the sides. The shape of the plant is correct, forming pruning is not needed. The leaves are laurel-shaped, shiny and leathery, green in color with a silver-metallic sheen on the reverse side. The leaves have phytoncidal properties and contain several times more vitamin C than citrus fruits and black currants. The leaves can be dried and brewed as a tea.

The flowers are bisexual, drooping, elongated, bell-shaped, white in color with a pleasant aroma that attracts many pollinating insects. Fruits: Gumi bushes give abundant harvests from July to August. The shrub can give the first fruiting in the 3-4th year. The fruits outwardly resemble dogwood - elongated or oval up to 2 cm long and about 1 cm in diameter, weighing 1.5-2 g, on long stalks, red in color, densely dotted with silver-white dots. They have fragrant juicy pulp of sweet-sour unusual taste with a slight astringency - they resemble apples, grapes, cherries and pineapples combined. They have a rich chemical composition and medicinal properties. In total, 17 amino acids were found in gumi fruits, and the content of vitamin C is even higher than in citrus fruits. Fruits can be eaten fresh, frozen, dried and used in decoctions, infusions, and you can also make wonderful jams, jellies, compotes, juices, sweet and sour sauces for meat, and even strong pleasant wines.

He likes warm, well-lit areas, without drafts. Only a young plant is sensitive to moisture, an adult is drought-resistant. An unpretentious plant that successfully grows on any soil, with the exception of acidic, oxygen-poor and waterlogged soils. Soils with a neutral reaction are suitable, so it is important to know the acidity of the soil in your area, and if this level is high, then you need to take care of lime.

Gumi bushes give abundant harvests, so the berries are consumed not only fresh, but also actively processed - dried, used in compotes, preserves, jams, syrups, fillings for baking and confectionery. Berries make excellent sweet and sour sauces for meat. The leaves are dried and brewed like a tea. In the Far East, gummi fruits are used as a tonic, tonic, for gastrointestinal disorders and cardiovascular diseases.
