  • Echinacea «White Swan»

    It is a perennial plant, great for cutting and decorating flower beds and ridges. Capable of creating magnificent compositions, especially in combination with asters, delphinium and coreopsis. Sowing can be done in April for seedlings or in May-July directly to the garden bed.

    After the appearance of two true leaves, it is recommended to thin out the seedlings at a distance of 5 cm from each other. In June, seedlings can be planted in open ground at a distance of 30-35 cm. The final transplantation to a permanent place occurs in the fall, when the plants reach a height of 4-5 cm.

    And the universal color and shape of the inflorescences allow it to be grown everywhere. In addition, the echinacea flower will complement any flower arrangement, because it lasts a long time when cut.

    Description:
    • bush with straight stems 90-100 cm in height and 50-70 in width;
    • reed flower, up to 10-15 cm in diameter, with a convex greenish center;

    Perennial Echinacea looks great both in group plantings in the middle of the lawn and in mixed flower beds. Phlox, perennial asters, monardas, ornamental grasses and various trees and shrubs are chosen as companions for her. Echinacea is placed on the back of the mixborder or along fences. It is appropriate both in a city flowerbed and in a country house.

    Growing Echinacea:
    • Echinacea does not need stratification, but be prepared for the fact that the seeds take a long time to germinate, from 20 to 40 days, take this into account when planning the germination time;
    • planting Echinacea seeds in the ground is carried out at a minimum average daily temperature of +13 degrees, in a sunny area with fertile, neutral or slightly alkaline soil;
    • Echinacea seeds are sown for seedlings from February-March in a loose nutrient substrate, lightly sprinkled with soil;
    • Sprouts need moderate watering;
    • from May they are planted on a plot according to a 30x30 cm pattern;
    • grows in one place without transplanting for up to 5 years;
    • care consists of watering, loosening, complex fertilizing from the second year;
    • For the winter, cut off the stem and cover it in the first year.
