It blooms in May, until the foliage completely dissolves, with large clusters of large, up to 4 cm in diameter, white flowers with a red or yellow throat. The length of the brushes is up to 25 cm. After flowering, it forms round boxes, from which, when ripened in August - September and cracking, nuts spill out, reminiscent of small hazelnuts with a thin peel.
Nuts are edible both raw and fried, taste good, and contain up to 64% fat. Does not like transplants, it is recommended to sow and plant immediately in a permanent place. Grows quickly. Frost-resistant, withstands short-term temperature drops down to -30°C.
It does not tolerate stagnant water well, especially at a young age; it needs good drainage, a sunny, heated and protected from winter northern winds, place for planting. The seeding depth is 4 - 5 cm. The seeds do not have a dormant period and germinate immediately after sowing. Young shoots that appeared in March (when sown in pots) require additional lighting.
