    The Macedonian oak is a medium-sized tree 10-20 m high, from late deciduous to semi-evergreen. The leaves are grey-green, 3-7 cm long and 1.5-4 cm wide, with roughly serrated edges with pointed teeth. The root system has a strongly developed central root.

    The acorns are 2-4 cm long when mature, ripen approximately 18 months after pollination, and are mainly enclosed in a scaly cup of the acorn.
