  • Tomato «Rosii Negre» (Black Tomato), Romania

Is a mid-season, medium-height, high-yielding variety. It is a family heirloom from Romania. The plant reaches 1.2 m in height. Fruits are round-flat, weighing from 150 to 300 grams, with a rich pink-purple color and green shoulders. They are very meaty, with small seed chambers.

The flavor is rich, sweet, with a pleasant aroma.

Tomatoes require a sunny site with light, fertile soil and good drainage. Seeds are sown for seedlings 55–65 days before planting in open ground or greenhouse. The optimal temperature for growth is +22…+26 °C during the day and not lower than +15 °C at night. Planting is carried out when the soil warms to +12…+14 °C, following a spacing of 40–50 cm between plants and 60–70 cm between rows.

Care includes regular watering with warm water (preferably drip), loosening and mulching the soil, fertilizing with organic and mineral nutrients. Plants are trained into 1–2 stems, removing side shoots and tying to supports. For disease prevention, it is important to ventilate greenhouses and rotate crops. Timely harvesting of fruits stimulates further fruiting.
