Orange Tree / Citrus sinensis
Bright golden‑orange fruits, rich in sweet taste and unique aroma. Glossy dark‑green leaves and a neat slender trunk make the orange tree a true decoration for a home or winter garden.
You can grow an orange tree yourself right on the windowsill or in a country house. The plant is undemanding, but requires sufficient lighting and regular watering. Seeds have good germination; with proper care, the first sprouts appear within 2–4 weeks.
Preparation and Planting
For the substrate, choose neutral soil (pH 6.5–7), without peat.
Optimal mixture:- 2 parts humus
- 2 parts forest soil
- 1 part river sand
Plant seeds in small containers (200 ml) with drainage holes, at a depth of 4 cm.
Care- Summer temperature: +20…+25 °C
- Winter: +5…+10 °C
- The orange tree loves direct sunlight; with insufficient light, leaves become smaller and fall off.
- Watering: several times a day in summer, 3–4 times a week in winter.
- Transplant young plants annually; mature specimens every 2–3 years.
Features
From a single orange seed, several sprouts may appear — choose the strongest ones for further cultivation.
