It usually reaches a height of 10–20 cm, forming a dense green carpet and flowering in spring, sometimes blooming again in autumn. The flowers are small, four-petaled, come in various colors, and are about 1–2 cm in diameter.
It prefers non-acidic, well-drained soil. Seeds can be sown in May or in autumn. Plant the seedlings with enough space between them, as they spread vigorously. Once Aubrieta has established and grown, it can be propagated by rosettes, which root easily and bloom in the same year they are planted.
