Pumpkin «Turban Giant Silver»
Large-fruited variety. It got its name thanks to the unusual shape of the fruit, resembling an Oriental turban, as well as the characteristic silvery shade in the color of the "cap". The fruit consists of two parts: the lower flat ribbed base and the upper one, resembling a "cap", which seems to grow out of the middle.
The upper part is usually light orange, bumpy, with creamy, white and silvery veins. The lower part is bright orange or red-orange, often with green stripes and spots. The weight of the fruits ranges from 1.5 to 4 kg, the diameter is about 18–25 cm.
The variety is universal: it is often grown as an ornamental plant for decorating interiors and autumn compositions, but at the same time it is quite edible and very tasty. The flesh is golden-orange, juicy and sweet, with a pleasant nutty flavor reminiscent of the "Butternut" squash. Suitable for baking, making puree soups, pies and stuffing.
From planting seedlings to harvesting takes about 90–100 days. The plant loves sunny places and fertile, well-drained soil, requires regular watering, especially during dry periods. This is a winter variety: after harvesting and a short holding in a warm place, the fruits can be stored for up to several months (often until February) in a cool and dry room.
