The advantage of a mixture of sweet clover seeds is a long flowering period and, accordingly, high nectar productivity per season, namely, on average, from 1 hundred square meters of crops from 2-3 kg, with good agricultural technology - up to 4-5 kg.

Yellow and white sweet clover are unpretentious green manures and honey plants; they grow well on poor soils, wastelands, on slopes, in ravines, along the edges of roads and fields, increasing their fertility and improving their structure. They tolerate salinity well, are drought-resistant, and winter-hardy.

Bees visit sweet clover crops throughout the day, but more energetically in the second half. It has been noted that in suitable weather, sweet clover secretes a significant amount of nectar, which protrudes out in the form of shiny drops, which makes it more accessible to bees. Sweet clover has a large number of flowers - per 1 sq.m. up to 1 million pieces, and each flower produces up to 0.25 mg of high-sugar nectar.

Sweet clover honey is light, has excellent taste and medicinal qualities, and is considered one of the best varieties. The nectar is transparent and contains up to 45% sugar. Yellow sweet clover also supplies bees with high-quality flower pollen. Another remarkable property of the plant is the luxurious and very pleasant original aroma from the above-ground part of the entire plant.

Preparing sweet clover seeds for sowing:
because Sweet clover seeds are covered with a hard shell on top, so they are scarified before sowing. At home, scarification can be done manually using sandpaper, or you can use a concrete mixer with sandpaper glued to its walls.
 
Sowing rate of sweet clover seeds:
with row sowing - from 14 to 20 grams per 10 m2, and with wide-row sowing - from 6-8 grams per 10 m2. The sowing depth depends on the soil: on heavy soils - up to 0.5 cm, on light soils - up to 2.5 cm. After sowing, roll.

Sowing is done in very early spring or late autumn, but they should not be allowed to germinate before frost.

Flowering of biennial sweet clover:
In the first year of life, the sweet clover blooms in not very large quantities, and in the second year there is massive flowering, then it bears seeds and dies. Flowering of yellow sweet clover occurs from mid-June to September.

White sweet clover blooms 7-10 days later than yellow one. It is a real boon for beekeeping.
