Young 3-4-day-old ovaries weighing about 10 grams with immature seeds are used for food. With good care, up to 30 ovaries are formed on one plant. The harvest is harvested 65-75 days after sowing the seeds, with a plant height of 60 cm.
The fruits are a dietary, low-calorie product with a large amount of pectin. 100 grams contain only 30 kcal. They are eaten fresh in salads, stewed, fried, frozen, and canned. The taste is reminiscent of asparagus and eggplant.
