An evergreen ornamental shrub, usually reaching 1.5–2.5 m in height. The crown is compact, dense, and rounded. Leaves are leathery, elongated, with edges curved downward. The underside of the leaf is covered with small brownish dots — a characteristic feature of the species.
Flowers appear in spring, most often in April–May. They are white, sometimes with a slight pinkish tint or purple speckles. Inflorescences are loose, with 7–10 flowers. Blooming is delicate, neat, not very bright, but still impressive.
Growing conditions: prefers acidic, well-drained soils rich in organic matter. The best location is partial shade or morning sun. Requires regular but moderate watering. The species is considered quite hardy and reliable in cultivation.
