Deciduous branched tree or shrub 1.8–3 m tall. Leaves 3–9 cm long and 1–3 cm wide. Flowers open simultaneously with the leaves or after they appear. The raceme inflorescence consists of 3–15 flowers. Each flower is 4–6 cm in diameter, white-pink with a yellow-orange spot on the upper petal and long stamens.
Moisture-loving. Grows well in sun and partial shade. Also decorative during autumn leaf coloring. Winter hardy down to –29°C.
Seeds are sown superficially, without embedding into the soil. Boxes are covered with glass or film to maintain high humidity. At room temperature, seedlings appear in 3–4 weeks.
