Tomato «Chief of the Indians»
Large-fruited early-ripening variety. The vegetation period from germination to the beginning of ripening is 80–85 days. Plant height is about 1 m, fruit weight ranges from 300 to 600 grams. Fruits are pink-red, heart-shaped, fleshy, sugary, with good taste qualities.
The variety is resistant to fungal diseases. It is used fresh in salads and for making high-quality juice.
Tomatoes require a sunny plot with light, fertile soil and good drainage. Seeds are sown for seedlings 55–65 days before planting in open ground or greenhouse. The optimal temperature for growth is +22…+26 °C during the day and not lower than +15 °C at night. Planting is carried out when the soil warms up to +12…+14 °C, following the scheme of 40–50 cm between plants and 60–70 cm between rows.
Care includes regular watering with warm water (preferably drip), loosening and mulching the soil, fertilizing with organic and mineral fertilizers. Plants are formed into 1–2 stems, removing side shoots and tying to a support. For disease prevention, it is important to ventilate greenhouses and rotate crops. Timely harvesting of fruits stimulates further fruiting.
