Carrots are sown in early spring or before winter in light, loose, well-drained soils. Seeds are sown to a depth of 1.5–2 cm, with 20–25 cm between rows. To obtain uniform roots, it is important to keep the soil moist, loosen it regularly, and weed the beds. Thinning is essential and is carried out twice: first at the stage of 2–3 true leaves, then 2–3 weeks later, leaving 4–6 cm between plants.
The crop responds well to phosphorus-potassium fertilizers, while the use of fresh manure is not recommended. Carrots tolerate cool weather well but require regular watering during dry periods. The harvest is collected depending on the variety, 80–120 days after emergence; for storage, the roots are dug up in dry weather and placed in a cool room.
