Blue Passionflower Seeds (Passiflora caerulea)
A perennial vine with a strong stem, up to 5 m long. When forming, the plant requires support. Flowers are large, 7–9 cm in diameter, with white-green petals and a blue-purple corona. Seeds are soaked in warm water, then the shell is scarified. Used as an indoor plant for vertical landscaping.
Blue passionflower is a perennial vine grown as an ornamental plant in open ground or containers. Prefers sunny, wind-protected areas with light, fertile, and well-drained soil. In autumn, the soil is dug with the addition of humus and phosphorus-potassium fertilizers. In spring — loosening, leveling the surface, and installing support. Seedlings or rooted cuttings are planted after the soil has warmed up steadily, according to the scheme 50–70×100–150 cm.
Care includes regular loosening, weeding, moderate watering without overwatering, feeding with organic and mineral fertilizers. To stimulate branching, pruning is carried out after flowering. In open ground, the plant may freeze slightly, so in winter the root zone is mulched, and in containers it is moved to a cool, bright room. Flowering lasts from June to September, flowers are large, fragrant, blue-white. Propagated by cuttings, root shoots, or seeds after stratification. Can grow in one place for up to 5 years.
